Fourth of July in Waverly

The 4th in Waverly is definitely a tradition I would like to maintain. Very simple and very family orientated. The day started off with the kid bike parade. Then we made breakfast. Off with the neighbors to the official parade. Drew loved the trucks and was really into the CANDY. He mastered the smile cute and wave to earn throw of candy in his direction. Then we had a neighborhood cookout followed up with fireworks. Mckinley and Drew enjoyed them. It was a great day! I will hopefully be posting our trip to Adventure Land and Thomas the Train as they happened 3 weeks ago. Wow, with Mckinley crawling everywhere and Drew wanting me to be a super hero, the days really fly by.

My sweet little girl at a 4th of July party on Friday.

My friend Andrea and her little cutie Baylor. She was born just one day after Mckinley.
Drew getting ready for the bike parade. It was at 8:30 and we were running a little behind schedule. Notice the cereal in a bag.

Mckinley was ready to go!

Fourth of July Bike Parade!

I am really late on posting our 4th of July pics, but here is part 1 of our first fourth in Waverly. We loved celebrating here. It had a great small town feel and so much fun for Drew. The first event was the kiddo bike parade. We decorated Drew's bike and Mckinley's stroller at our neighbors house the night before. There was a great turn out and Drew had a great time. We just recently took off the decorations because he loved them so much.

Look at me Pump my Swing!

Look at me! Don't I look cool pumping my swing!

I love my yellow swing!

Well the title says it all. Shortly after purchasing our swing set this summer and after a million "Will you push me on the swing", we realized that we would need to start teaching Drew how to "pump" his own swing. As we all know Brandon is all about independence, while I struggle a little seeing them grow up so fast. Drew still needs some help, but is very proud of his growing skills on the swings
Mckinley is also loving the swing set. She would love to be pushed in the swing all night. Don't you just love summer!

Here is a little clip of Drew's skills

Children's Museum with Daddy

Flying an airplane. Drew said we we flying to the zoo and the engine stopped. So dramatic!

Drew flying the plane and Mckinley as co-pilot.

Me and my big boy. He wanted me to chase him though the groundhog holes, I think I would have gotten stuck.
Daddy and his girl.
Looking at their shadows.

Daddy and Drew to the rescue!

They were building a house.

A couple of Sundays ago we finally did not have plans soo..... we let Drew pick which one of our regular hangouts he wanted to visit. He picked the Children's Museum. It was a real treat for daddy to come with us. Mckinley even enjoyed looking at all of the bright colors.

P.E. 101

Drew landing in the foam pit at PE 101. He is such a dare devil.
He told me frequently that he could get the rings by himself.Playing at the park with good friends on a very cool swing.

A trampoline a good way to burn some "Drew" energy.

We hit a new play spot in Omaha with a few friends and their kiddos. The kids had a great time. After play time we hit a nearby park for a picnic and play. I love summer and spending days with my cuties.

Drew funny story: Drew looked at me the other day and said, " Mommy you like Kinley more than me" I told him that I love both of them and then asked him why he thought that. His answer, " because she is new"

Mckinley: She is gaining more and more personality everyday.
1. She loves all food
2. She is starting on puffs and finger snacks
3. She gets frustrated when she can't get to something
4. She is a little screamer. She screams when happy and mad.
5. She is so strong
6. She love the cartoon Backyardigans. Drew likes this cartoon in the morning and the other day I was feeding Mckinley her cereal and when the intro music for the show came on her little legs and arms moved like crazy. This same crazy arm and leg movement has happened several more times when this show came on.
7. Is really starting to sleep through the night on a consistent basis
8. She sleeps on her tummy in a little ball
9. It is really tough to change her diaper
10. She has a great smile.

Cousin Cade's 3rd Birthday

Getting ready for the "ant" eating (chocolate sprinkles) game. Drew was all business and once again I could really see a competitive side. I think he gets it from Brandon.

Drew showing off the bugs he found on the bug "fake bugs" hunt. He must have thought I wanted a close up of the bugs.
Cade showing off his bugs.
Getting a ride. Want a great day!
Drew trying out Cousin Cade's new toy. Good thing Cade is so great at sharing.
Once again loving life as an outside baby!
Look at how the cousins match in blue.

Our nephew Cade turned 3 in June and we now have two 3 year olds in the family. It is so fun to see these boys play together. We are so lucky to have our kiddos close in age. Now we just need a girl for Mckinley. Amy and Brian threw a great "bug" themed party. From a bug hunt to an ant eating contest, and finally a huge worm cake with homemade ice cream. I may have Amy plan our next birthday party.

Drew funny story: Drew was in a good mood the other day and he said " I love my whole family, I love everyone in the whole world, and even some people in space".

Mckinley: On July 7th Mckinley got really good at getting from her belly to a sitting position. On July 13th she started to crawl. We need to get a gate and baby proof this house. She is doing this a little earlier than Drew. The first thing she crawled to was Drew's most treasured toy Spiderman. We will see how this new found mobility plays out around here. I will post video of her crawling soon. I will be posting a lot over the next week because I am so far behind.

Blastball

Drew and Coach Brandon with the red team.

Drew could really hit the ball. It was the standing for long periods of time fielding that was the challenge.
Coach daddy helping Drew
Mckinley cheering on Drew
She is such an outside baby.

Blastball season is over. We had a great time. It was fun to meetl more families from the community. Drew enjoyed it, but the constant running in soccer is definitely tops in his book.
