Easter 2010

I must say sorry for the major delay. We have been BUSY! I have so much to journal about and so little time. We have been playing soccer, t-ball, in track club, attending fun nights, pre-school programs, a mommy and me class, not to mention work.

look how they are holding hands

What a cute little thing. So sweet. I think she kept that bow in her hair for 2 minutes or seconds

I am outta here.

What Grandma and Papa give Easter presents too!!

Here is Kinley in her new princess car. It is fun to see some pink and purple in the garage. She loves it and gets in and out over and over again. Also notice she is driving with her beloved paci. It may hard to get rid of this!
Drew got this awesome pop up soccer net. This is him celebrating his goal vs. his dad.

Thanks for all the awesome goodies from the Grandmas and Papas. Special thanks to Grandma Renee for the spiderman activity book for getting us through a long mass and then a long wait in the Dr.'s office on Monday.

Dying Eggs

We dyed eggs before Easter last week. It is a definite must around our house. We did miss our helper Aunt Leslie this year, but hopefully we will get her back next year. Drew loves decorating for the holidays and it really brings me back to when I was a kid. It is so fun to watch my kids doing those same things.

Ok guys, lets dye some eggs!
Here is Mckinley looking on at the action.

Wow, look at all these beautiful colors.Ta da! The finished project. As he put them in the cups he named what friend or family member it was for.

Spring Break Part 2 "Hanging with the Boys!!"

During my spring break I wanted to make sure I spent a special day with my big boy. It seems when Kinley is around she gets most of my attention with her getting into and onto everything. So I told Drew to choose 2 buddies and a place and we would have some fun. Drew chose our neighbor buddies; Owen and Zach and the Omaha zoo. We had a great day. It was a little gloomy and cold, but we had a bunch of fun.

GRRRR! Checking out the tigers. I think Drew is impersonating a tiger in this picture.
They loved the gorilla's booty. Best part of the day was the gorilla putting on special show just for us. Thanks for the 5 minute nose picking. He really knew his audience of 4 year old boys, they loved it and laughed and laughed.
I love this boy!
In the jungle.
000000..... those sharks are scary!
They are so cute at this age. So interested in everything and so many questions :)
The aquarium was the biggest hit.

They loved the sharks.

This is us after our day at the zoo. McDonald's of course. This one had a play structure and as much as those things scare me with all the germs, the boys begged and I allowed them to play in it. I did apologize to both mothers and to date not one as come down with any illnesses. We topped off the day with ice cream. I scream You scream we all scream for ICE CREAM! And to my surprise no one spilled a drop. Good work boys!

Spring Break!!! Part 1

Look Drew can buckle his own seat belt. This really saves me some time and Drew yelling "mom you forgot to buckle me" as we leave our driveway in the morning.
Ok Miss Kinley that water is gross and not for drinking. I must have told her that several times before finally picking her up and moving her away from the water play area.
Drew making a cool path is the water play area.
Drew rescuing yet another animal is the tunnels. Notice he still has his cheesy camera smile.
Mckinley loved these button and knobs.

She really really loves to climb!

Kinley walked around with this pill bottle all over the museum. I don't think this was a great play skill to reinforce, but it kept her happy.
She was pointing out this puppy.
Drew ready for action!

I love spring! I also love that my job allows me to have one week off to enjoy it. SPRING BREAK! The kids and I did many fun things. We started off the week at the Children's Museum. We had a great time and I thought that Mckinley was easier to keep track of this time.

Funny stories from the week:

Drew's new saying : "what's the point"

Drew trying to convince me to buy that reading program for babies for Mckinley.

Drew:" Mom, Look I got a big ouchie and I didn't even cry"
Me : "Wow, I am proud of you. You are one tough boy"
Drew: " How proud of me are you?"
Me: "To the moon and back"
Drew" oh, that's not very much

jeez, what does the kid expect! :)

Kinley:
This girl loves it outside. If you say want to go outside she will run and get her coat and shoes. LOVES IT! Also if Drew goes out and she can't. Look out! She will drop to the ground and cry.

She is starting to label animals in books and say words from stories like "snap" from 5 little monkeys and 'pop' from Are you my mother.

Pajama Time

Pajama time around here is usually the best part of our day. We bath the kids and then let them play around and snuggle up with them. Here are some of the pictures of that time before bed.

Drew giving Kinley a ride on her car. He loves for us to praise him for being such a great brother. Kinley will go over and sit on her car and Drew will respond with " Ok, Ok, Peeps (his current nickname for his sis) one more ride"

He loves to give tickles and she loves to get them. Sometimes he gets a little rough, but she does not seem to mind.

Oh course, Kinley does a lot of climbing. She has now can get on and off of most furniture.
Here is Drew sporting his Dinosaur slippers.

I am a talking machine!

Kinley is really starting to talk. Here is a little clip of her imitating some new words. Brandon says this may just be his favorite age. I think it is so hard to pick just one.

Dinosaurs and Disasters

A couple of weeks ago Brandon was busy and the kids and I had an opportunity to go to an exhibit at Morrill Hall on UNL campus. The kids and I went on our own and I am happy to say it went very well. Drew had a great time. He loves experiments and science, so this was prefect for him. It was so well organized with many UNL students and many hands on experiments. I put Mckinley in the baby carrier, which she prefers over the stroller because she thinks she has a better view. I think this may be our last time for the carrier because she is getting too long for it. Below are a few of the many pictures I had from the day. Drew thought we needed to take pics of everything to show Dad. At times I felt like his personal photographer.

Drew funny sayings:
Me: How is your waffle?
Drew: splendid!

Me: Drew will you please get my purse?
Drew: Mom, I think that is your responsibility.
(wow sounds like a mini me)
Me: Oh really?

Mckinley new words:
happy: Drew taught her this word and he was so proud of himself
all done
yes

Look at this pose!

Wrestler?

Drew and his neighbor buddy Jacob and Jacob's dad went with Brandon and Drew to the last UNL wrestling meet.
I think Drew must have been forcing a smile. This one looks a little fake. :)

Brandon has a love of wrestling. It started from when he was very little and continues on. He now volunteer coaches at Waverly high school. He also goes to many of the UNL wrestling matches. He usually takes Drew with him. When I ask Brandon if Drew had a good time, he tells me yes," he loves running around and getting items at the concession stand, but does not really watch the wrestling. " It will be fun to see if Drew is interested in his Dad's sport or will be talented in something totally different. That is the joy of raising kids.
